Robert Foster joined Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow as an associate in 2016, after completing a legal internship with the firm through Northeastern University’s renowned “co-op” program. Before joining MBBB, Robert gained significant litigation experience, having worked for the United States Attorney’s Office in Portland, Maine, and with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Boston, Massachusetts. He also served as a Judicial Intern with the Honorable Raymond Brassard in Norfolk County Superior Court.

Robert now focuses his practice on negligence claims related to motor vehicle collisions, premises and products liability, medical malpractice, and construction site injuries. He is also extensively involved in the firm’s appellate practice, including complex legal research, brief-writing, and motion hearings. Most recently, Robert pioneered and successfully co-tried the very first fully virtual jury trial in Massachusetts, obtaining a verdict for his client during the COVID-19 pandemic.

An active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and Boston Bar Association, Robert is a recent alumnus of the Boston Bar Association’s 2019-2020 class of the Public Interest Leadership Program, which conducted an in-depth review and evaluation of Massachusetts’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our Commonwealth’s most vulnerable and at-risk populations. He is currently a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Insurance & Tort Litigation Steering Committee.

Robert is a graduate of Colby College and Northeastern University School of Law. He is an avid tennis and squash player, surfer, snowboarder, and lover of the great outdoors.

Columbia Gas Explosions

$143 million Settlement Fund created for the residents and businesses of the Merrimack Valley impacted by the September 13, 2018 gas explosions caused by Columbia Gas. Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow, as Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel, helped achieve this historic settlement and further assisted with the claims process to ensure distribution of the funds to those harmed.

Severe Spinal Cord Injury from Pool

A man suffered a serious spinal cord injury when he dove into a deceptively shallow residential pool. Rob Foster and Peter Ainsworth obtained a $1.75 million pre-suit settlement on his behalf.

Pedestrian Struck on Sidewalk

A man was walking home on a sidewalk when he was suddenly struck by an SUV that swerved over two lanes of traffic and onto the sidewalk. The injured party suffered a severe brain injury amongst other injuries. Rob Foster and Peter Ainsworth achieved a $1.4 million settlement pre-suit.

Motorcyclist Cut Off by Tow Truck

A motorcyclist was severely injured when his motorcycle crashed into a Tow Truck that pulled out into his lane of travel. A $500,000 settlement was obtained.
