Santos v. Chrysler Corp.

$26 million judgment against Chrysler Corporation was obtained by the attorneys in a case where the faulty braking system led to a tragic accident and the deaths of the plaintiff’s wife and three children. The case involved a poorly designed brake system in the early “mini vans” released into the market, and the judgment was affirmed by the Supreme Judicial Court in Santos v. Chrysler Corp., 430 Mass. 198.

Failure to Install Auto Part

$2.75 million settlement for Plaintiff who suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury as a result of a motor vehicle collision where Defendant company failed to safely install auto part on vehicle.

Unlawful Gun Sale

$1.2 million settlement of a case arising from a highly-publicized shooting spree by a disturbed student armed with an assault rifle at a local college. The plaintiff, a campus security guard, filed suit against the gun shop that unlawfully sold the weapon, a mail-order ammunition dealer, and college administrators.

Kitchen Blender Explosion

$1.3 million settlement obtained for a woman who was severely burned when her kitchen blender exploded as a result of over-pressurization. The plaintiff alleged that the blender was defective in that it lacked a pressure release device and that the defendant failed to adequately warn of the significant dangers of blending hot substances.

Victory Against Big Tobacco

Michael Bogdanow won an appellate victory in Greene v. Philip Morris when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court denied Philip Morris’ attempt to evade paying a multi-million dollar jury verdict to Patricia Walsh Greene. Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow was primarily responsible for the appellate litigation. Andrew Rainer and Meredith Lever of Public Health Advocacy Institute, along with private attorneys Neil Leifer and Michael Weisman, handled the successful trial of the case.

Wrongful Death of an Infant Due to a Negligently Designed and Defective Product

A multi-million dollar settlement was obtained for the family of an eight-week-old infant who tragically died due to a defective product.
