Leo Boyle Receives Robert Morris Trial Lawyer Award

Posted by:

On September 17, 2013, Leo Boyle was honored by the American Board of Trial Advocates with the Robert Morris Trial Lawyer Award. The award is given in honor of the legacy of Robert Morris, one of the first black lawyers in the United States. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Robert Morris had the distinction of being the first black lawyer to file a lawsuit on behalf of a client in the United States. Attorney Morris went on to win that case at trial. He had a distinguished career in the law and, eventually, the judiciary.

It was with this powerful historical backdrop that Leo Boyle accepted the Robert Morris Trial Lawyer award, given to an attorney who best exemplifies the spirit and dedication of Attorney Morris and who most embodies the mission of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
